Tai Chi Search Center Way Balance is achieved by turning  to angles of 45 degrees, or increments thereof.  The weight is then shifted to 50/50 or100/00 as each of the postures requires (never further forward than 50/50).  Moving in this mannertakes one from one natural balance point to the next.  Each posture has an optimal, natural balance point.  This must be FELT.  The Bagua diagram shows that  the four directions and the four corners are related in angles of 45 degrees  Dr. Uhlmann puts it this way: ‚“These angles provide a stable platform for changing to the next positionГ‚”.
Balance also requires keeping the body level.  Master Wang says that up and down movement increases hip tension and decreases the ability to root.
In form practice, turn the center, step, shift the weight.
