Chi Search Center Way Principles
Concentrate
Balance. Center. Relax. Concentrate. Coordination. Circle
(globe). Proportion. Honesty.
Dr.
Uhlmann suggests practice early in the morning, before the mind begins
to race. Focus on the seven priciples as a way to keep your
attention on the practice. Practice away from distraction
Of course Tai Chi Search Center Way Concentration
begins with learning the basic form
postures. Master Wang suggests no interference, not even
music. Visualizations are suggested, such as seeing water flow,
and perhaps energy radiating in rays from the Tan Tien. Master
Wang is reported to visualize himself practicing on ice.
Concentration gives substance to the form: it is something that can
actually be “felt” by the practitioner, and seen by the observer.
Many others suggest visualization of an opponent. Of course, this
would come with an understanding of the movements. In my
experience, I percieve a higher degree of chi flow, but also, if not
carefully observed, muscle tension builds up...a physical response to
the mental imagery of a “threat”. If I am concentrating on the
whole experience, I will notice the tension, and MUST let it go.
